ORIENTATION DAY AT YIUS
YIUS held it's Orientation Day for the second trimester ( 2010 ) on Friday the 24th of June. All students and parents were invited. The chairman U Aye Cho welcomed all the students and told them to do their best in their studies. He also advised them to enjoy their time at YIUS by joining in all the activities both in and out of school. Next the Director of Studies reminded them about the importance of working regularly and putting up home work and assignments on time. They were also told to read and obey the student's rules.
Mr. George Braid (Head of English Department) congratulated the students who had completed the different levels in the English Course. He mentioned that he was very proud of the effort they had put in and that they deserved the certificate they had worked for. Saya Phyo Paing Oo and Teacher Khin Hnin Pwint Pyone presented the students with their certificates.
The students had a chance to talk to some of the old students of YIUS who were back for a short holiday. There were a few questions and answers. Aleas @ Hlaing Win Thaw Dar studying business at James Cook University (Singapore ) and Cassie @ Khine Phoo Htet Thaw studying Engineering at Curtin International College ( Perth ) were very helpful in answering all the questions .
At the end of the program everyone enjoyed light snacks and drinks not to mention the happy conversation shared by all. So another new term starts again at YIUS.
YIUS GRADUATION
On June 12th, 2010, YIUS successfully held the 7th
Graduation Ceremony , at the Sedona Hotel,where twenty
students received their certificates for Foundation course
in Business. The ceremony was attended by students, parents
and honored guests.
Our chairman U AYE CHO gave the opening speech. Next the
commencement speech was given by H.E Ms MICHELE CHAN, the
Australian Ambassador to Myanmar , followed by a speech by
Mr. GEORGE Y BRAID , head of the English department. All of
them congratulated the students for their hard work and
reminded them to do their best always. They were told to
study and observe the culture and custom of their host
countries, and to one day return home to Myanmar and help in
anyway they can.
Our next graduation ceremony will include students from
the Engineering class. We started this course last semester
in February.
After the graduation ceremony, tea and coffee together with
snacks was served. There were lots of photographs taken and
a good time was held by all.
Later in the evening the teachers and graduates attended
the dinner, also held at the Sedona Hotel.
Our thanks to the staff of MTG, our own Admin staff , our
teachers and all the others who helped to make our
graduation celebration a success. We also wish our
graduates, the best in their future. We know they will all
make us proud.
CONGRATULATIONS
Our first batch of YIUS students will be graduating this
year. Since we started only with the CERT 1V foundation in
Business studies they will be earning their University
degree in the Commerce stream. They have made YIUS proud by
doing their best and introducing our flag of Myanmar to the
CIC and Curtin family. We wish them all the best in their
next phase of life.
Fun Trip to Hlawgar
The students and
teachers of YIUS took a day trip to Hlawgar Wildlife Park on
the 11th of November 2009.The happy group was
transported in big air conditioned bus. It took about 45
minutes to get there but with all the chatting and singing
no one noticed the time or how long it took.There were lots
of food to eat and drinks to quench their thirsts. They
enjoyed playing games and singing along with guitars to
accompany them. They also took time to look at all the
animals in the park. A happy time was had by all.
YIUS Christmas Party
A formal dress up party was held at
Sedona Hotel, Mindon Room on Friday the 18th of
December 1999. It was well attended by invited guests,
teachers and students, past and present of YIUS. With all
the musical talent we have at YIUS the students made their
own music and sang for their own entertainment. They all
enjoyed dancing amidst the glitter and glamour of
decorations. Their were prizes for best dressed and Mr and
Miss Christmas also. The buffet feast was delicious . Every
one was beautifully dressed and it turned out to be a great
Christmas Party. What a pity we have to wait another year!
YIUS Staff Christmas Party
The teachers and admin staff of YIUS
enjoyed an evening of good food, fun and music at the home
of Chairman U Aye Cho and teacher Mi Mi. It was a great
evening spent not only eating and drinking but also singing
along with guitar accompaniment of musician and composer Nyi
Nyi Thwin.Managing Director U Hsan Yee and wife Daw Mu Mu
were there to complete the happy group. There were lots of
photo graphs taken and was truly a happy relaxed time for
all . The highlight of the evening was of course the
PRESENTS !
NEW Classes!
This first intake in 2010 ushers in
the opening of the engineering and IT courses at YIUS. We
are happy to inform you that classes in Commerce ,
Engineering and IT have begun with great enthusiasm from
the students and teachers. As the Com Skills classes are the
same for all the Foundation Courses the students get to meet
as a group. We look forward to a happy first semester in the

Visits from Australia Universities to YIUS
During the months of September and October personnel from
various universities in Singapore and Australia visited YIUS
and took the opportunity to hold seminars and conferences to
talk about working together in training and counseling
students who are interested in studying or preparing to
study abroad. Together with our partners, YIUS will continue
to teach the Foundation Course for Business ( Certificate IV
) while preparing to open the Foundation Course for
Engineering ( Certificate IV ) in early 2010.
Guests to YIUS included Ms May Tran from James Cook
University and Mr. Jeremy Histon from Curtin University in
Singapore , Mr.Brad Dorahy from QIBT ( Queensland ) , Mr.
Scott Spragg from Curtin ( Sydney ), Mr.Barry Fleming and
Dr. Michael New from Curtin International College ( Perth )
and Prof. Walter Ong from Curtin University in Perth
(Australia ).
